UPDATED: SHIRE FALL RETREAT INFO FOR FRIDAY

By the way, there are still some spaces available for this weekend retreat if you haven’t yet signed up … It’s going to be a great time!

For those who are going, here are two additions that you need to know:

Please print out and sign the form that I’ve attached to this email. Without it, you will not be able to participate in the afternoon activity on Saturday. (I will have copies available at leaving time on Friday – a parent’s signature is needed.)

2. Also, for Saturday’s activity: you must have shoes and socks that cover the entire foot. Be ready for being outside.

3. Lastly, bring along a snack to share with the group.

See you all tonight!

Project Serve Bethesda Mission & Meeting at the Fetter's

Just wanted to give a heads up on the plans for tomorrow night at the Shire ….

PROJECT SERVE: Middle School Students

Tomorrow night you’ve got the opportunity to serve Bethesda Mission through this month’s Project Serve. Bethesda Mission is located in Harrisburg and aims to provide food, shelter, clothing and life-changing counseling based on the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all who seek our help. The way that we will be serving Bethesda tomorrow night is by labeling, collating, and stuffing 1,500 pieces of their quarterly newsletter. That’s a good size task … so the more people that we have to help the better …

**Students bring out your friends …  and we’d like to encourage parents to stay and serve alongside their young people for the service project.

Please arrive by 6:45 p.m. … if you can make it out by 6:30 p.m. we’ll have plenty for you to start at that time also!

Getting Started in Philemon

"I thank my God always when I remember you in my prayers, because I hear of your love and of the faith that you have toward the Lord Jesus and for all the saints, and I pray that the sharing of your faith may become effective for the full knowledge of every good thing that is in us for the sake of Christ. For I have derived much joy and comfort from your love, my brother, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you." Philemon 4-7

Paul is thankful for some stuff in Philemon’s life:
  1. His love and faith (loyalty) for Jesus Christ and others.
  2. His sharing of his faith.
  3. People have been refreshed through him.

Some Questions to Consider:

  1. Does your faith stick out to others? What are people saying about you? Are people talking about your love and faith?
  2. Are you living your faith out … or is it just something that’s in your head … you won’t “know the full knowledge of every good thing” unless you live it out.
  3. Who do you know who encourages you in the Lord? Are your refreshing to others? (a drink in the midst of a run is refreshing)
